In detail...
The member had enjoyed good health but began to experience symptoms similar to the common cold, then extreme tiredness and slurring of speech. Dizziness, vertigo and disequilibrium set in but disappeared a couple of hours later. The symptoms returned, abated and returned during regular intervals over the 24 hour period.
At this stage the member asked BUPA International to arrange treatment. The member was airlifted by private air ambulance to Finland, accompanied by a medical team.
Tests in Finland revealed the member to be suffering from a long-lasting, recurrent but transitory problem from the vertobasilar system - symptoms probably exacerbated by the viral condition.
A course of intravenous medication over 5 days helped the member to recover and BUPA International promptly settled the claim direct to the member.
