In detail...
The member suffered a serious heart attack after working out in a gym and was taken was taken to a local medical centre which liaised with BUPA International.
Although initial treatment was given to the member, the centre did not have adequate facilities to provide the necessary aftercare needed following a heart attack.
As the member had emergency evacuation cover and BUPA International had identified a hospital in Finland with excellent facilities for patients recovering from a heart attack, it was decided to fly the member to Finland.
BUPA International arranged for a doctor and nurse to accompany the member to Finland by private air ambulance for three days in intensive care and a further three days in a recovery ward.
Following treatment and under medical advice, BUPA International arranged for the member to return to Russia who was back to full health (and work) within two months.
